Transforming a Cliffside Retreat from the Top Down

Set atop a single-track cliff road in Fairbourne, this unique timber-frame property presented a host of challenges. Our first priority was to safely remove the existing asbestos roof before undertaking a structural overhaul of both the walls and roof from the top down. We reinforced the property with a stainless-steel wire system to support the roof, upgraded the roof timbers, and finished with new slates, a dormer window, and Velux skylights for extra natural light. Throughout the process, we worked closely with the homeowner—who was handling interior finishes—to offer advice and ensure a harmonious blend of style and stability in this breathtaking coastal location.
